While the games industry is generally expected to prove resilient to the global economic down-turn, Microsoft executive Shane Kim says that the business might not escape the troubles unscathed, the boss predicting far slimmer growth than witnessed in recent years.

Chatting to Reuters, Kim said the business is gearing up for "tough times" in 2009, and that huge growth is unlikely.

"Who knows, maybe flat performance will be considered a remarkable achievement," the Game Studios boss admitted. "It’s difficult to predict the future."

He continued: "A big objective for us is to deliver most entertainment value for the dollar," adding that people tend to find their entertainment at home during periods of economic gloom.
